Back when I was prototyping The Heart of the Machine I wanted to put the beginnings of a score together. Something that would epitomise the general mood and feel of the game. At the time I only had a couple of environments and a mentor character to work from so I wrote this composition with its epic lead line acting as a leitmotif for both the world of the machine and its inventor the professor.

The piece relies heavily on the lydian scale or mode which is synonymous with science fiction

– Me 😉

Using the same modes and scales as many of the great sci-fi themes found in cinema and games the score acts both as a homage to the world of Science fiction as well as creating a  fitting backdrop to the marvellous machine where this prototype takes place.

This score was also used in the titles mockup for The Heart of the Machine which you can watch here.
